CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation (NCCF) is a nonprofit
organization that supports the work of the Children's Oncology Group
(COG), the world's premier pediatric cancer research collaborative
funded in part by the National Cancer Institute. The COG includes more
than 5,000 physicians, scientists, nurses and research staff who are
located at more than 200 leading children's hospitals, university
hospitals, and cancer centers in North America.
The COG represents every recognized pediatric cancer program in North
America where more than 90% of children with cancer are treated.
Historically, the research efforts of the COG have been nearly
singularly responsible for the very dramatic improvements in cure
rates for children with cancer. However, cancer remains the leading
cause of death from disease in children; despite the tremendous
progress, much work remains to be done.

About CureSearch/NCCF and the COG
- Through public education, advocacy for public policy change, and
private sector fundraising, CureSearch NCCF supports the
lifesaving work of the COG.
- CureSearch launched the Childhood Cancer Advocacy Network to
mobilize patients, survivors, family members, and healthcare
professionals to work with Members of Congress to support
increased federal funding for childhood cancer research through
the recent passage of the Caroline
Pryce Walker Conquer Childhood Cancer Act.
- In the past 5 years, (2003-2007), COG enrolled over 32,000
pediatric patients in various clinical trials, opened 108 new
trials and completed 96 trials. Past COG studies have
resulted in 270,000 children, adolescents, and young adults
who are now cancer survivors.
- COG currently has 130 open studies and many new studies in
development.
